Confidentiality:

Our policy is to maintain strict confidentiality between all Health Care Professionals and Patient.

No information will be given to ANY OTHER PERSONS without the express permission of the patient.

Accidents:

The nearest Casualty department is at

the Royal Berkshire Hospital, London Road, Reading.

Obvious fractures and severe injuries should go direct to casualty, but if in doubt contact the Duty Doctor for advice. Please note however, that the surgery is closed from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm on weekdays and all weekend.

Intimate Examinations / Chaperones:

You are entitled to ask or arrange for a chaperone to be present during intimate examinations. You may chose to ask a friend or relative to be present or ask the Practice to provide a chaperone.

Please ask in advance if you wish the Practice to provide a chaperone. If the Practice is unable to provide a chaperone at the time of your examination, you may be asked to re-book your appointment for a time when a chaperone is available.

Freedom of Information Act:

The Practice has produced a Publication Scheme, giving details of the Practice and information that we routinely publish, as required by the Freedom of Information Act. This is available on request from the Practice Manager.

Suggestions or Complaints:

We are always grateful for any suggestions or positive comments. In addition, we do take patient complaints very seriously.

  • If you wish to complain about something at the surgery, please discuss this with our Doctors or Nurses or the Practice Manager.

We will respond to your complaint as quickly as we are able, keeping you fully informed of our progress in this respect, at all times. Full details of our Complaints Procedure are displayed in our surgery Waiting Room.

If, as a result of our response to your complaint you remain unsatisfied, you have the right to discuss your complaint with the Newbury & Community Primary Care Trust (PCT), who can be contacted at Avonbank House, Northcroft Wing, West Street, Newbury, RG14 1BZ, or by telephone on (01635) 42400.

Patient Questionnaires:

  • Periodically you may be asked to complete a questionnaire about the surgery services. This is designed to help streamline the services we provide and we are grateful for your help in completing these.

Patient Participation Group:

  • We have an active Patient Participation Group who meet regularly at the surgery. If you would like to join our group, or even make a suggestion / comment for consideration by the group, details of our next meeting are displayed above the Patient Participation Group notice board in the surgery waiting room.

  • We would be delighted to welcome anyone to the group’s meetings, even if you are not able to attend regularly. The group is influential in helping to shape the type of medical services which are available from surgeries in the Newbury & Community Primary Care Trust area.
