Podiatrist
Mrs Emma Barrow
Podiatry
is the more modern name for Chiropody and both terms are used at
present. Podiatry is the professional treatment of the feet, aiming to
promote healthier and more comfortable feet to every age group.
Our feet carry us thousands of miles in a lifetime, it’s no wonder
they sometimes complain. Whether a painful corn, an ingrown toenail
or cracked heels, they can all make simply getting about a chore.

The following are some of the more common foot complaints and
conditions treated by a Podiatrist.
·
Ingrown toenails
·
Diabetic Feet
·
Corns
·
Callosities (hard skin)
·
Verrucae
·
Fungal toenails
·
Flat feet
·
Thickened toenails
|
The
treatment focuses on the main cause of discomfort or pain and is tailor
made to the individual as no two pairs of feet are the same. The
underlying cause of the problem is assessed and suggestions made to help
keep the feet pain free, such as certain creams, files, shoes or insoles
to maintain that “walking on air” feeling. With some foot
conditions a course of treatment is recommended.
